Bonding Process
If you or a loved one is in a sticky situation and require the help of a bail bondsman, I am here to help. The process can be a bit confusing, so below is the general process and information required.
- When you are arrested, the jail is required to give you one free phone call. Typically, this phone call is either to a bail bondsman, attorney, or family member. Make sure to tell your attorney or family to contact me as soon as possible so we can get the process started.
- Defendant's Full Name
- Defendant's Date of Birth
- Detention Facility
- Bail Amount
- Date Arrested
- Payment Method
- After I have been contacted, we can start the application process. Depending on the situation, the bondsman may require collateral or co-signers in addition to the defendant on the bond, who will also need to fill out an application.
- Once the application is completed, I will verify the required information and determine the premium amount, any collateral needed to secure the bond, and whether any additional co-signers are needed.
- Upon agreement to set terms, the defendant and/or co-signers will meet with me to go over those terms in detail, collect any payment of premium and collateral, and sign the contract.
- Once premium is paid and the contract is signed, I will go to the facility where the defendant is being held and secure their release.
- After release, I will meet with the defendant and any co-signers to clearly lay out the expectations of them while out on bond and the consquences of not meeting those expectations.
- The bond will typically be active and the conditions enforced so long as the defendant is awaiting sentencing and the court has not modified the conditions of the bond. The defendant must appear at each required court date until that time or the bond will be forfeited and the defendant will be returned to custody.
